Judaica Europeana to be launched this month

05 Jan 2010

A Kick-Off meeting scheduled on 11-12 January 2010 will launch a new project of the Europeana group. Judaica Europeana will work with European cultural institutions to identify content demonstrating the Jewish contribution to the cities of Europe.

The project will digitise several million pages from books, newspapers, archives and press clippings as well 10,000 photos, 1,500 postcards and 7,150 recordings to be made available through Europeana.

The project's consortium led by the European Association for Jewish Culture in London and the Goethe University in Frankfurt, includes 10 cultural institutions from seven European countries.

Judaica Europeana is keen to aggregate films and other audio-visual material on Jewish urban life in Europe or works by Jewish filmmakers with Jewish content.

The project web site will soon be ready and linked from the: Europeana group page.
